For many years before SCFM started, our family was on the road all spring, summer and fall going to different events round Alberta, from one end to the other, selling great tasting Kettle Corn and operating a food truck. As our children got older this was becoming harder and harder to do. So we applied to every farmers market around Edmonton and area. But, was blocked by vendors/boards that wanted exclusivity of those markets. As this continued, we meet others that were also beginning blocked. So with the help of great business like Logican and now Servus Credit Union, that little group of 7 likeminded people started South Common Farmers Market, a public market that follows all Alberta Health rules and regulation, the same as any other restaurant or store in Canada, where all foods that need to be inspected ARE, unlike the other markets around the city! We try our best to treat all people with respect and understanding.
There has been a need for many years for a market with lots of parking, that promoted all vendors, customers, and the community in the south of the city. Myself and several others vendor where chatting one day about what it should look and be like. Because they wanted a place where they could grow their business, not have the drama of the other style markets..
